Privacy and data

Privacy Policy

This policy explains how ApredIA handles information when you use our mobile app, website, AI Tutor, and creator tools. We do not sell personal data or show behaviorally targeted advertising.

1. Who is responsible

The service is operated under the ApredIA name. For privacy questions, requests, or data-rights inquiries, contact [email protected].

This policy applies to the ApredIA app for iOS and Android, apredia.app, and Studio or administration experiences connected to the same service.

2. Information we collect

  • Account and identity: name, email address, country, language, account identifier, sign-in method, and authorized roles.
  • Learning and usage: unlocked topics, feed preferences, onboarding interests, credit balance and ledger, AI Tutor conversations, and metadata required to provide the service.
  • Voice: audio you voluntarily record to transcribe a question, transcription language, and resulting text.
  • Purchases: product and transaction identifiers, store, environment, event status, price, currency, and attribution or promotional-code data where applicable. ApredIA does not receive your full payment-card number.
  • Technical data: IP address and basic request data that may appear in security and error logs, device type, operating system, app version, and technical identifiers supplied by stores or providers.
  • Creators: applications, professional experience, portfolio links, content, documents, images, tutor settings, metrics, and information needed for payouts or compliance.
  • Communications: support messages, deletion requests, content reports, and form responses.

3. Microphone and voice data

We request microphone access only when you choose to record a question. Audio is transmitted to create a transcript and is not intentionally stored in ApredIA’s database after the request completes. The transcription provider may process it temporarily under its contractual and security obligations.

If you send the transcript as a message, its text becomes part of your AI Tutor conversation and is retained as chat content until deleted under this policy.

4. How we use information

  • Create and protect your account, authenticate you, and manage preferences.
  • Deliver videos, questions, interactive content, unlocked topics, and language or accessibility features.
  • Answer through the AI Tutor, transcribe speech, generate audio, and maintain conversation context.
  • Process credits, validate and restore purchases, prevent fraud, and maintain financial records.
  • Review, moderate, attribute, and publish educational content.
  • Provide support, respond to legal requests, and communicate important service changes.
  • Maintain security, diagnose errors, and improve ApredIA’s quality and reliability.

5. Legal bases

Depending on your location, we process data to perform our contract with you, comply with legal obligations, pursue legitimate interests such as security and fraud prevention, and with consent where required—for example, when you use the microphone or opt into certain communications.

6. Providers and disclosures

We share only the information needed with providers operating parts of the service. These may currently include Supabase for authentication, database, storage, and functions; OpenAI for tutoring, transcription, and audio; RevenueCat for purchases and digital entitlements; Apple and Google for distribution, sign-in, and payments; and any sign-in provider you choose.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users and the service, investigate fraud or security threats, or in a business reorganization with appropriate safeguards. We require providers to protect data consistently with this policy.

7. AI and conversation content

Questions, relevant educational context, and necessary instructions are sent to the AI provider to generate responses. Do not use the AI Tutor to share passwords, financial numbers, identity documents, sensitive medical data, or information that is unnecessary for learning.

The AI Tutor can make mistakes. Its responses are educational support and do not replace professional advice, official instructions, or a teacher’s judgment.

8. Retention

  • Account and learning data is retained while the account is active. In-app deletion removes the account and associated ApredIA product data.
  • Chats are retained to display history and provide the service until deleted with the account.
  • Voice audio is not intentionally retained by ApredIA after transcription; submitted text may be retained as a message.
  • When the account is deleted, ApredIA deletes its purchase identifiers, credit ledger, balance, unlocks, and access. Apple and Google separately manage their store and transaction records under their own policies.
  • Content and files directly associated with a creator account are deleted with that account.

9. Deletion and your rights

You can correct some information in the app and permanently delete your account from Profile. The app requires you to verify your identity again, ends sessions, and deletes the account and its product data. If you cannot sign in, use the public Account Deletion page or email [email protected] from the associated address.

Depending on applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, portability, objection, or restriction, and withdraw consent. We may verify your identity before responding.

10. Children and teenagers

ApredIA is not directed to children under 13 and is not offered as a Kids Category app. Anyone below the legal age to enter a contract in their country must use the service with authorization and supervision from a parent or legal guardian.

If you believe we received data from a child without required authorization, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

11. Security and international transfers

We use reasonable technical and organizational controls, including authentication, account-based permissions, encryption in transit, and access restrictions. No system is completely secure.

Our providers may process information outside Costa Rica or your country. Where required, we use appropriate contractual safeguards for those transfers.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app, providers, or laws change. We will publish the current version and, for material changes, seek to notify you in the app or through another appropriate channel.

13. Contact

Privacy, rights, and security: [email protected]. Include your account email and a clear description of the request; never send your password.
